10 Bible Verses To Encourage A Mother’s Heart

If you are reading this you are probably a mother or maybe even a soon to be mother who could use some encouragement. The bible is the one place I like to turn to when needing encouragement as a mother. Through God’s word, we are able to feel encouraged and comforted because we know it is right and true! His word is a lamp unto our feet and a light unto our path.

Being a mother can come with so many challenges and oftentimes leave us feeling so alone. Especially if you are healing postpartum. I think the most important thing to remember on this journey to motherhood is that you are never alone. Not only are there so many women out there going through the same thing, but there are ways we can stay encouraged too!

Finding relatable bible verses to proclaim throughout our day is a great way to encourage our hearts and keep us close to the Lord. It’s also a great way for us to share these bible verses with our children so that when they face difficulties they will know where to turn for encouragement and hope! By turning to the Lord in difficult times, you are also teaching your children this same concept. We are the gatekeepers for our home and what a blessing it is to share the good news of Jesus with our children!

Bible Verses on Trust

Oftentimes, I feel as born again believers our faith begins to waver because we are not fully putting our trust in the Lord. The Bible tells us to put our trust in the lord. Psalm 73:28 says “But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord God, That I may declare all thy works”.

When we begin to worry and doubt who God is and what his word says, the enemy sneaks in to plant lies of doubt. We know we must cast down imaginations, and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God – 2 Corinthians 10:5. As we do this continually, we will have the victory in Jesus Christ! It is an everyday choice for us to follow the Lord and be not only a hearer of his word, but a doer as it says in James 1:23. As we do his word, our faith will grow and we can fully trust him!

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

Blessed is the man that trusteth in the Lord, and whose hope the Lord is.

Bible Verses on Rest

As a mom finding rest can be SO hard (ask me how I know!) Finding rest in the Lord is so necessary during busy or hectic seasons in our life. What does it mean to rest in the Lord? Maybe not actually sleeping but literally resting our mind and being fully present with him. Listening to what the Lord has to say, can not only be encouraging but also restful. Resting in the Lord helps with the lies and worries the enemy tries to bring into motherhood. God is so kind and patient to walk us through those tiring seasons of life as we trust and rest in who he is.

Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

Matthew 11:28-29

And he said, my presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest.

Exodus 33:14

Bible Verses on Comfort

Sometimes we just need comfort and reassurance that everything will be alright. The Bible tells us that God is our comforter and he comforts us in our affliction. If you are needing comfort look no further, the Lord himself is always ready to hear and listen to you. As you are a born again believer, you have access to the Lord 24/7 he is ready to hear his people who call upon him.

Blessed be God, even the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and the God of all comfort; who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort them which are in trouble, by the comfort wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.

2 Corinthians 1:4

Fear thou not; for I am with thee; be not dismayed for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee, yea, I will help thee; yea I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness

Bible Verses on Purpose

If you are a mother reading this, you are serving a purpose. God has a plan for you and his plan is to see you be an incredible mother. While he may have other plans apart from being a mother, don’t forget being a mother is a wonderful gift from the Lord. You have been blessed with a precious child to nurture and teach. It’s an honor and a privilege that the Lord would trust us to raise another human! We have the choice to teach our children how to be a light in this dark world.

Proverbs 31:26 tells us in regards to a virtuous woman: “she opens her mouth with wisdom; and in her tongue is the law of kindness. She looks well to the ways of her household, and eats not the bread of idleness. Her children arise up, and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her.” What an incredible bible verse! Such a great reminder of what we as mothers and wives ought to live like! I know every time I read proverbs 31:10 I feel a little convicted because there are so many things I as a mother (and wife) need to work on. It’s a great verse to read and apply in our lives everyday.

And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.

Philippians 2:13

For God hath not given us a spirit of fear but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind. Be not thou therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but be thou partaker of the afflictions of the gospel according to the power of God: who hath saved us, and called us with an holy calling, not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus before the world began

2 Timothy 1:7-9
