How To Trust God For Your Healing

Whenever you are healing from a sickness or even a broken heart, trusting in God is the one thing that can keep you from feeling overwhelmed. It is in hard times that we learn to work our faith and put our trust in the Lord. When we put our trust in God, we can rest assured knowing he is taking care of us. He fills us with peace and comfort in those times of difficulty.

In 2014 doctors told me I had ulcerative colitis, at that time I didn’t have a true relationship with God. All I knew at that time was that I was filled with so many overwhelming thoughts. The devil easily put so much fear in me because I didn’t know to call out to the Lord.

After finding a new job later in 2014, I realized everyone over there was Christian. I LOVED how encouraging they were to me when I was having really tough days with my health. It filled me with so much hope during those dark times. They taught me how to be born again and prayed over me for healing,  as it talks about in Mark 6:13 and Romans 10:9. From that moment on the Lord started working tremendously in my body and in my life. I had a partial healing after they prayed for me. I went to the doctor the next day for a colonoscopy and was told that I didn’t have any more ulcers in my digestive tract. AMAZING! I knew from that moment on the Jesus was indeed my personal Lord and savior.

How Can We Trust God is Healing Us?

By being born again, you unlock ALL of the gifts that God has set before his people. They are ready for all those who truly believe in him. We just have to do our part and take hold of them. It’s one thing for God to say something but it’s another thing for us as believers to work our faith and trust that he is doing it.

A lot of times in my healing journey I would get discouraged if I felt like I was going backwards. Looking back, I realize that was the enemy trying to steal what God had waiting for me. In those discouraging times, we must RESIST the enemy and he will flee! We have to remember to bring every thought into captivity into the obedience of Christ (2 Corinthians 10:5). By doing this, we can know and trust that God is healing us!

Trust God By Speaking The Word

The word of God is more powerful and sharper than any twoedged sword Hebrews 4:12 tell us. It is the living word of God. It has POWER when we speak the word over our bodies, lives, and circumstances. In fact, Jesus in Matthew 4:3 used the word to defeat the enemy when he was tempted in the desert for 40 days. How amazing!

We have that power living inside of us when we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior. A verse I always speak over myself is “ heal me o’lord and I shall be healed, save me and I shall be saved” Jeremiah 17:14. It’s a promise straight from his word that brings power to us as believers. When we speak it, we have to believe it and work our faith knowing, we are being healed in Jesus name!

Another great verse for healing is “he bore away our sicknesses and by his stripes we are healed” Jeremiah 17:14. Jesus died so that you and I can be healed. He paid an expensive price for you and I, my friend, we just have to believe it and take hold of that promise waiting for us!

Trust God By Worshiping Him

I love worship, it brings a sense of peace and fills me with hope. You can never go wrong with worshiping the Lord especially on days when you don’t feel like it. I find the more I press on, and worship when I don’t feel like, the more encouraged I feel after. Praise the Lord! It’s a complete game changer when I’m feeling down or discouraged. Something about singing God’s word brings joy and gladness. Psalm 66:4 tells us “All the earth shall worship thee, and shall sing unto thee; they shall sing to thy name.”

Worship by signing psalms from the Bible, you are using the word of God (which we know has power) to sing and worship. Psalm 29:2” Give into the Lord the glory due unto his name, worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness”. Even if you feel like your healing is taking time, give praise and worship to God knowing he is healing your body! I remember times in my healing journey, I would take time to sing and praise God, it would change my mood and day. If you want to check out Esther Mui on youtube, I love listening to her psalms and hymns. Her songs are only the word of God, my children love them too!

Find Friends Who Encourage You

This is such an important step while you are on you healing journey. Finding a circle of friends who can truly support you and uplift you in difficult times, is key. Those who truly understand and know that God is who he says he is. In Proverbs 27:17 it says “iron sharpens iron; so a man sharpeneth the countenance of his friend”. It shows that even God wants us to have good friends, who we are friends with, affects our walk with the Lord tremendously. Do you have a friend who is sharpening you? Are they encouraging you in the word of God and helping to strengthen your walk with God? These are such important questions to think about.

A good friend is someone who won’t say negative things about your healing, because we know in Proverbs 18:21 “Death and life are in the power of the tongue: and they that love it shall eat the fruit thereof”. What our friends speak over us, is so important. You want someone who is speaking life and believing for your healing with you! A negative friend will only bring you down and not help to build your faith. You don’t need a big circle of friends either, I find less is more sometimes. You want quality over quantity.

If you are in a season of dating, the same applies with a spouse. My husband has been my number one supporter and has encouraged me in the Lord since day one. Wait for that person that will pray with you and for you. I promise they are out there, trust that the Lord will send the right spouse or friend along the way. He cares for you so much and wants you to be surrounded by people who will build your faith and draw you closer to him!

Trusting In God By Having Faith

As you can see, when we trust God and believe in him, our healing journey can be filled with joy. We know that “all things work together for good to them that love God. To them who are called according to his purpose Romans 8:28”. He has a purpose and a plan for you, it is for you to be healed and restored. Put your trust in him, lean not on your own understanding (proverbs 3:5). As you do this, you will grow you faith and be filled with hope!

What is something that draws you closer to God in difficult times? Do you believe God is healing you? Let me know in the comments below how I can pray for you!

  1. Hello, I really loved your blog. I’ve been growing closer to the lord the last 3 years. I just found out 6 months ago I have nerve damage it’s called Glossopharyngeal neuralgia. It’s been very painful and all the feeling is in my throat. I’ve been taking b vitamins and doing chiropractic adjustments which has helped some e the pain. But there is a lot of healing still to be done. I trust God is my healer but I’ve never went through something like this and it took so long. I cry a lot to God and talk to him every day. I know one day it will happen. I just get sad when it hurts.

  2. Hello! I just stumbled across your blog. I’ve been struggling with whether it is always God’s will to heal. Can you tell me your thoughts on this? I’ve always been taught that we will only be healed if it is his will. Been listening to different preachers on this subject and am still really confused about it.

    Thank you

    1. Hi Connie,
I’m so happy you are here! I understand there is so much conflicting info out there. I always like to go off of what the bible says on every topic. The bible clearly tells us it is our will as a believer in Christ to be completely healed and made whole. When we accept Jesus as our Lord and savior we enter into the promises God has for us, one of them being health. Exodus 15:26 “I am the Lord who heals you” 1 Peter 2:24 ” who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness, by whose stripes you were healed.” Psalm 107:20 ” he sent his word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destruction” Psalm 103:3 “who forgiveth all thine iniquities; who heal all your disease”.

It is His will for you to be completely healed. I listened to a pastor on YouTube named “David Middleton” he has a series on healing and it changed my life when I was at the lowest point ( I linked it for you). It brought hope to me and I know his series can help you to on this journey! Please email me ([email protected]) if you have any questions, I’m happy to help. I’m praying for you and believing the Lord will heal you in Jesus name!
