Being The Wife God Wants You To Be

When I first became a wife I had no idea how important my role was in my marriage. I had a general idea of what a Godly wife looked like but as a newlywed, I learned a lot. I’ve always desired to be an excellent wife and mother when I was younger. I had no idea that it wouldn’t always be as easy as I expected. Thankfully my husband is my best friend and is truly so patient with me as we both learn even still, after 7 years. I’m so grateful to have a good husband who points me to Christ and encourages me to be a better person. As we navigate through hard seasons and work together to overcome, we learn more about the love of God. This in turn brings us closer together!

A woman’s role is so complex but yet so simple if we understand what the Bible says about us. As I became a wife and mother, I quickly learned how selfish I truly was. It’s amazing how the Lord will use your husband and children to teach you about yourself. Not that I was a horrible person, but I sure had a lot of things I needed to work on. I’m so thankful the Lord taught me through my husband and children. The good news is we have a merciful God who teaches us just how to have qualities of a good wife.

Being The Mother God Wants You To Be

When I first became a mother, I surely had a lot to learn too. I knew I wanted to be like other stay-at-home moms but I was a young mother with not a lot of experience. I truly felt defeated at times. But, by God’s grace, he taught me how to be kind, loving, and patient. Even in those days where there was endless crying, he was there. The Holy Spirit was there to guide me through each stage of my children’s lives and it was truly comforting. As mother’s we are to reflect the image of God to our children. That doesn’t mean we need to do everything perfectly, but that we need be a a vessel of God for our children. To teach them scripture, be a good example, pray with them & for them, correct them, and love them.

We All Need Help Sometimes

Let’s get this straight though, no mother or wife will be perfect. We all fall short of the Glory of God. We all need mercy and support in hard times. Am I right? But as we read God’s word we can understand our calling as being a wife and mother. We understand how God designed marriage and a family. Everyone has a job to do in order for the whole unit to work together. In turn, it makes us have a deeper love and appreciation for God’s design.

As we go into Mother’s Day, remember that you are so loved! You are the best mother and wife and your hard work does not go unnoticed. The Lord see’s your dedication and loyalty to your husband and children. Take heart, that as you’re doing what the word of God says and leading your family closer to the Lord, you are doing your calling.

As you can see God’s word describes the role of a mother and wife so perfectly. God’s love is so deep and so wide for us in that he shows us how to be the best we can be. Not only to benefit ourselves but our own children and our husbands.

Not only that, but for the single woman who desires to be a Godly wife and mother one day. The best thing we can do as christians is read the Bible and learn what God says about each topic.
